Study in Triratna
A spiritual teacher was once asked why people don’t seem to make more spiritual progress. They answered that it was because those people didn’t have a clear enough of what they were trying to achieve or how to achieve it.
Studying the Buddha’s teachings, known as the Dharma, is an important aspect of Buddhist practice where we clarify our understanding of the path and practices, make them ‘our own’, as well as draw inspiration from the words of highly developed practitioners.
It is also an excellent context for getting to know other members of the Sangha (community of practitioners) and for friendships to blossom.
We are committed to supporting personal study and have an extensive library that can be used by anyone interested in exploring the Dharma. All our classes include an opportunity to develop further understanding of the Dharma, exploring the relevance for our modern day lives, and we always include time for discussion – these often develop into lively conversations. We also run mitra training courses throughout the year – see the section on mitra study.
The site hosts talks by Sangharakshita and over 200 other speakers from 11 countries about how to apply the Buddha’s teachings in modern lives today. They include a selection of talks, interviews, seminars, and question-and-answer sessions from the early 1960s to the present day, including an increasing number in languages other than English.
An enjoyable day – was welcomed and well looked after – thank you very much..going away more enriched.Day course attendee
